Parkland dominates the independent supply and marketing sector for petroleum and fuel products in North and Central America. Parkland operates in 25 different countries with a local Refinery in Burnaby, BC.
Sonic Enclosures was contracted by Parkland to design, supply, and manufacture one Class 1 Div 2 Explosion Proof Storage Enclosure. The Enclosure is to house highly combustible Lab Control Standards such as Jet Fuel and Gasoline. Parkland required an enclosure that would ensure off-gas’ would not ignite and a high degree of internal climate control could be maintained.
Class 1 Division 2 Enclosures require highly specialized equipment that can control pressure, temperature, and eliminate ignition sources. In the case of the Parkland building, all conduit, junction box, lighting, heaters, switches, and plugs had to be spark-proof. The enclosure was also outfitted with an outdoor-rated CO2 fire extinguishing system to ensure if in the low chance a fire does occur it can be dealt with quickly and automatically.
