Project Specifics
The local plant uses approximately 200,000 tonnes of dry biomass fuel, mostly sawmill waste, each year to produce enough renewable electricity to power more than 40,000 homes a year. The $235-million biomass-fired facility sells power to BC Hydro on a 30-year agreement.
Sonic had not built many boiler building and thus this was a unique project due to pressure components and regulation requirements that we saw as a challenge we could learn from. Both buildings were shipped as per schedule and with zero customer initiated non-conformances.
In order to meet closely with a local boiler room specialist, Cannepp, to develop a design and to install the boiler equipment. By working with local suppliers we are able to provide our clients with the highest quality standards at a lower cost.
