Suncor Energy, the world largest producer of bitumen, will be nearing the final stages of construction on its new Fort Hills oil sands project in the last quarter of 2017. When complete the 50-year mine will produce 180,000 barrels of oil per day and employ close to 1,600 permanent employees for operation. The Fort Hills project is located north of Fort McMurray in the Province of Alberta and at mine life end, Suncor will use its ever evolving reclamation process to return the land to as close to its natural state as possible.
