The ConocoPhillips joint venture, Surmont SAGD recovery facility, located near Fort McMurray Alberta has a capacity of 140 MBOED. The construction of Surmont 2 started in 2010 and became operational in 2015. The goal of ConocoPhillips is to increase production while lowering green house gas intensity and reducing bottlenecking. In 2016 the new facilities helps double production from previous years.
